Contemporary Curriculum

Ages 9 -18+

At DDA, our Contemporary dance curriculum is derived from classical ballet, jazz and modern styles.  It encourages freedom of movement through establishing artistic diversity between music and dance.  Ballet and jazz technique through extension and feet can be utilized in harmony with the torso control of Modern dance.  Contemporary dance explores multiple and simultaneous actions with unpredictable changes in rhythm, speed, and direction.  Choreography can appear disordered, but ultimately relies on technique to present an idea or story.
